If you haven’t noticed, today is national running day – encouraging people to take a few extra steps, work in some cardio and boost their heart rate. This got us thinking at HUFF Realty. We are so thankful to serve a community that offers so many wonderful places to run, walk, ride a bike, take a segway, ride a duck bus or any other version of getting to see the beautiful views of the city.
Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Indiana all offer miles upon miles of running space. Either side walks, hiking trails or parks, the tristate is a haven for the active person.
Although national running day is the perfect way to prepare for a Holtman’s donut overdose on National Doughnut Day on Friday, hundreds of people are expected to lace up and hit the road throughout the Tri-State to show their passion for rapid heart rates, good health and sweet shoes.
The day honoring running, always held the first Wednesday in June, started nine years ago as a way to raise awareness for the healthy habit, according to the National Running Day website .
The day in Cincinnati is a great opportunity for newbies, or those thinking about heading out for the first time, to meet other runners and walkers at two organized events.
The Running Spot is inviting runners and walkers of all levels to the Newport, O’Bryanville and Loveland stores beginning at 6:30 p.m. for group activities. Each location will have give aways and other opportunities to celebrate the day billed as a “FAVORITE holiday, like 4th of July & Christmas all wrapped into one.” A morning event was also scheduled at the Glendale store at 8:30 a.m.
At the same time, organizers of the Flying Pig Marathon will host a 4 mile group run at Washington Park starting at 6:30 p.m. The non-profit will raffle off entries to the Queen Bee Half Marathon, Flying Pig Marathon and Beer Series events. All participants will receive Gatorade, water, and National Running Day bibs as well.
