On May 1, you will begin to see yard signs in front of HUFF offices that announce that they are a drop site for the Yellow Ribbon Support Center Campaign. Please stop by and see us with your donation of items from the Solider Wish List. If you have any questions, please contact Heidi at 513-674-5597 or see our Military On The Move By HUFF Realty Facebook page.
HUFF Realty is proud to announce their partnership with the Yellow Ribbon Support Center, a non-profit organization based out of Cincinnati, Ohio, that supports deployed soldiers in harm’s way by sending care packages with “nice to have” items from home.
HUFF Realty now assists in collecting these items to send to deployed troops. Each HUFF Realty neighborhood location will act as a “drop-off” point for donations. HUFF will then deliver these items on a regular basis to the Yellow Ribbon Support Center for distribution.
The parents of Staff Sargent, Keith “Matt” Maupin, founded the Yellow Ribbon Support Center in April 2004. During deployment in Iraq, Maupin was captured by insurgents. To assist in searching for Maupin, his parents sent care packages covered with Maupin’s picture to deployed soldiers in hopes that someone somewhere might have information about his whereabouts.
The community grew and the need for some of the basic necessities for the troops became apparent. While focus never wavered from finding Maupin, the Yellow Ribbon Support Center began sending packages to any soldier’s unit whose family supplied the center with an address.
Maupin’s remains were recovered in March 2008 and returned to his family. The Yellow Ribbon Support Center continues sending packages as encouragement for those men and women serving in the military. The Yellow Ribbon Support Center has sent over 21,000 packages to troops since August 2004.
To show their continued gratitude for the military, HUFF Realty has expanded their service offerings to military personnel through participation in Leading Real Estate Companies of the World’s U.S. Military on the Move™ program. The program was created to provide active duty, retired military and wounded warriors with special benefits on real estate services, including a real estate credit at closing in states where allowed by law.
